Question 1

What is the incline range on the X16 treadmill?

Accepted Answer

The X16 goes from -6% decline to 40% incline, a wider decline range than the Commercial Series, which goes to -3%. With an iFIT subscription, incline and decline adjust automatically to match your trainer's outdoor terrain.

Question 2

Is the X16 good for people with joint pain or bad knees?

Accepted Answer

The X16 has 27% more cushioning than the nearest competitor, designed to absorb impact and help reduce soreness.

Question 3

What is the difference between the X16 and X24 treadmill?

Accepted Answer

Screen size. The X24 has a 24-inch pivoting screen; the X16 has a 16-inch pivoting screen. Both have the same -6% to 40% incline range and cushioning. The X16 costs less and is the better choice if the larger screen is not a priority.

Question 4

What does ActivePulse do on the X16?

Accepted Answer

ActivePulse is an exclusive iFIT paid membership feature that reads your heart rate continuously and adjusts the treadmill speed to keep you in your target zone. You set the heart-rate target; the machine adjusts pace. It is available on all NordicTrack treadmills for iFIT subscribers.

Question 5

What screen size does the X16 have?

Accepted Answer

16 inches, with a pivoting touchscreen. The screen rotates for off-treadmill iFIT workouts including strength, yoga, and HIIT. The X24 has a 24-inch pivoting screen if you want a larger display.

Question 6

What is the benefit of a 40% incline treadmill?

Accepted Answer

A 40% incline treadmill opens up a level of training intensity that standard treadmills simply can't reach. At steeper grades, you engage a variety of muscle groups while increasing calorie burn without increasing speed. At 40% incline, you can burn nearly 2x more calories compared to standard 12–15% incline treadmills, and over 3x more than walking on a flat surface. This makes high-incline training an efficient way to build strength and burn calories, especially for walkers who want meaningful results without increasing speed. Beyond calorie burn, the wide incline-to-decline range — from -6% to 40% on the NordicTrack X24 — allows for terrain simulation that keeps workouts varied and engaging over time. Paired with iFIT, the machine automatically adjusts incline to match your trainer and fitness level in real time, so the full range of intensity is always accessible without manual programming and fitness level in real time, so the full range of intensity is always accessible without manual programming.
