Bernard Lagat

I like treadmill training/running because it allows me to have full control of my training- the way I prefer. The convenience of being able to train in my home gym whenever I want is ideal.

When it's too hot to train outdoors, or when it's dark on the streets, or if it's the wet monsoon season in my region, I rely on treadmill training to make sure I can safely train and not miss a workout due to these types of environmental factors.

The thing I like best about NordicTrack treadmills is that I can regulate my speed. I can run as fast or as slow as I want, at whatever incline I want. Being able to see real time pace, speed and heart rate information while running is pretty cool!

Bernard Lagat has represented his country — initially Kenya and then later the USA — at 15 global championships over the past 16 years. He has taken 13 medals from those championships, five of them gold, but he is not quite finished. He is currently trying to qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.

Lagat's first olympic race was in 2000, just a few months before he turned 26.  Few would have believed that he'd be able to fit in many more appearances at the Games before retiring. But with the Rio 2016 Olympic Games less than just around the corner, Lagat believes he can make it to his fifth Olympics
