Have used the 990 for two weeks and based on this experience the following are my findings. For reference I am 55 and weighed 173, about 15 lbs. over my target weight on day one. I now weigh 167 which was accomplished by doing 30 minutes 5 days a week and thinking twice about what I am eating.The put together took me about 3 hours and I am somewhat handy. Just good to know so you should set aside the time. If you try to rush you will make mistakes. The instructions are pretty good but a few steps could be made clearer. The screws are packaged in a laminated cardboard base with clear identification...that was a big plus. After put together I had a clicking noise in the magnet housing. The troubleshooting section pointed me to the solution but was somewhat vague. One of the circular side panels on the magnet housing was not seated all the way from the factory. A plastic clip was exposed and once seated the clicking was silenced. The front lower base squeaks like a mouse with every revolution. I have not been able to solve this squeak. I suspect it is the bottom of the front post rubbing against the plastic base.The overall movement otherwise feels very good to me and yields an excellent workout. The speakers do the job of playing my mp3 but are of low fidelity. The sound quality reminds me of the old 1960's small suitcase turntables.I prefer to use my earbuds which also silences the squeaks.The display is good and provides a ton of information. The built in programs are great and you are also able to make your own custom program which is a nice touch. All the controls are easy to adjust in a split second.If you decide to buy I would say, don't expect a mercedes but a chevy with just about all the options you can get.
