Comments: I have had my NordicTrack A.C.T. elliptical for 5 months now so feel comfortable in giving a fair review. I paid extra to have the machine assembled. The people who delivered and assembled the machine were nice enough but had never done the job before clearly. To top that off they were overbooked and running around like mad men. Could be the reason for some of the clunking I will comment on later. The machine itself is nice and compact, very solid even sitting on a bedroom carpet, and offers a stride that is comfortable for me (6' tall). Overall it is quiet as well but quickly developed clunks and squeaks that have me wondering when I should take advantage of the extended warrantly to have someone come and check to see that it was actually assembled correctly. The console on the machine is a bit of a joke. The fan is nearly useless. The heart rate monitor is totally useless. I have an actual heart rate monitor that is very accurate. The one on the machine is off by miles WHEN it even works at all. Do yourself a favor and buy a real heart rate monitor. Otherwise the console is fine for setting resistance and monitoring time. As for the workout provided the machine is very good. As someone who is in decent shape (run 5 miles a day 4 days a week) the machine provides good resistance, stride, etc.
