Comments: After around six or seven uses, the flywheel came loose and the unit was unusable. I called for warranty service and was told that there would be a $45 service charge. I told them that the unit was within the covered trial period and that I was going to return it. They agreed to have a service person come out at no charge. Once fixed (a retaining bolt had not been tightened adequately, a common problem according to the serviceman) I have not had a problem with the equipment. The unit operates very smoothly, the various resistances and degrees of incline allow for a great variety of workouts, and the built in programs also make for a good variety of intensities and durations. I also prefer ellipticals with the handles for upper body workouts, which the 990 has. I compare it favorably to the best ellipticals I've used at clubs. There is also a convenient holder for a water bottle or anything else you want to put there. The built in fan is nice in warm weather. I don't use the stereo much as I have a TV in the workout room and prefer that instead, but the speakers seemed adequate when I tried them. The unit folds up easily for moving and storage. From what I can see, the iFIT workout cards aren't worth the money. I use it two to three per week in addition to yoga and Total Gym workouts. Overall, it makes for a good overall fitness program.
Workouts are even better with the all new AudioStrider 990 elliptical that features a new 18" to 20" stride length. The stride adjusts from 18" to 20" as you increase the incline up to 30% so you get even more muscle recruitment in each motion. Our legendary smooth motion is still intact as well as all of the features that made the last AudioStrider 990 our most popular elliptical.
