Answer to 'free-roaming soul'. I love the machine too. As far as finding replacement 'glide tabs'- a visit to thrift stores will usually find these skiers (many that are beat-up), and with something like a small knife/screw driver, the glides are easily removed.

I have been using my NT since 1991. Six to seven days per week (when I am home)for 50 minutes at 3 degrees incline. The ole NT machine provides the ultimate, at home cardio workout.
Want to maximize benefits of use.

Does the use of the skier result in building muscles. Is there a video I can see related to proper use and training with the skier?
Great aerobic workout and great for developing balance.

I have had my Skier for 15 years!! I love it!! It is great for people that don't have room to keep it out. My folds up and I stored in the coat closet.
This machine will last forever....I have never had any problems with it.
Keeps on Going
By SurferSkier (Santa Cruz, CA) on Jan 14, 2010
We've had our skier, just like the current model, for 17 years now. We replaced the arm pull cord once, but nothing else. Kind of amazing, could last a lifetime. Seems only swimming might give the same total body workout.
brought me back into the work force!

The Nordic Track classic Pro skier was responsible for rebuilding my ability to walk again, after over a 2.0 year period off of work. This was due to a past back issue with my degenerated lower discs. The only thing I added to my program was the slight edge of everyday using it,drinking water and ta... (Read more)
My Kids Call It A Time Machine!
By School@Home (MiddleTN) on Jan 22, 2010
My husband purchased this for me in 1989, really! I've continued to use it typically 5 days/week since. The upholstered pad is peeling, I've had to oil squeaks more times than I can remember, and various other repairs but this ol' bird still hangs in there! We've certainly gotten our money's worth.
Best cardio machine ever made.

Amazing piece of equipment a real kick butt workout. I have a small area and could only have one machine and I am so happy I choose this one.
18 years old and still going strong
By Szbertt (Plano TX) on Feb 8, 2010
We bought our Classic ski machine from Nordic track 18 years ago. It has seen a tremendous amount of use, and other than cleaning and some lube it still works great. We're giving it to our son to take back to college, and we'll buy a new one. It is simply the best workout we've ever known.
Easy on my Knees
By 1948yooper (San Antonio) on Feb 13, 2010
I bought a used one for a song about ten years ago and it and I are still going strong. Electronics never worked right, but the smooth action remains. I've done a lot of x-country skiing, but this is much safer and convenient. A great workout that is easy on the joints.
Great excercise machine
By Triathlete (Central Texas) on Feb 16, 2010
I have had mine for fifteen years and use it at least once a week. Excellent substitute for running since it is much easier on the knees. It should have come with a water bottle holder, since you will sweat your butt off on this thing.
Have used one for YEARS.

I loathe swimming. Despise running. Abhor dance videos. But this, I love. I can read or watch tv or even daydream (I'm that good at it). And if a 55+ year old woman can do this, you can too. Because you're probably younger or at least you haven't had my 3 spinal fusions, five knee surgeries, three ... (Read more)
great for 15 years
By John (Clifton Park, NY) on Feb 22, 2010
I got my NordicTrack Pro skier in 1995. It has worked well since then until 3 days ago. Now I have to repair it myself. They will send a new drive roller in 5-10 business days. I am charged $151. They would charge $138 more to have a repairman come, so I am going to do it myself. Interestingly... (Read more)
Doctor Advised to get it !!

I've had my Nordic Trac Skier for over 17 years, and have not had any problems with it. I became a diabetic about 17 years ago and my doctor suggested that I get the skier Nordic track to exeric on and I did and it helps me to keep my suggar down when I ski on it for at least 30 min. 3-4 times a wee... Mine dates from the Reagan administration!
By Mark W (Boston, MA) on Mar 18, 2010
I bought mine when Reagan was president, and it's still going strong! I've had to replace a few components, but they are available and I'm glad to see it's still on the market. I feel that low impact is very important in any aerobic exercise that is done frequently, and there is none better than th... (Read more)

after years i rediscoverd the reason the nordictrac was and still is one of the most efective work outs unlike poorly made fad equipment and poorly made gimicks that are ineffective, hard to set up equipment and even more diffacult to use and usaully end up cluttering the garage or ending up by the... Marvelous piece of equipment
By Shep (Coconut Grove, Florida) on Apr 28, 2010
I bought my Achiever in 1990 and have used it continuously since then to maintain cardiac fitness. It provides a full-body workout, is infinitely adjustable, uses no electricity and has required no maintenance. An ideal product!
By TallOne (Greenville, SC) on May 25, 2010
Best workout for great results, minimal time - and release of endorphins is incredible! I've had mine 15 years and still use it - sweat like a dog! I swear the inches fall off my hips afer I'm on it. The fat that's burned keeps my tummy flat, and it has a great effect on my legs and backside! 20-... (Read more)

I inherited my Nordic Track Pro from my grandfather after being unable to find a good, effective low- to no-impact exercise machine. Having a suffered a serious dance injury at 13, I have great trouble with any kind of impact on my ankle. This machine is WONDERFUL. I do an hour a day at resistance l... (Read more)
